Description
For sale is a very cool and very rare 1936 San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge Commemorative Silver Half Dollar graded and certified by PCGS as MS-64. This coin was minted and sold in 1936 as a special souvenir to commemorate the opening of the San Francisco - Oakland Bay Bridge in November of 1936. The obverse of the coin features a Grizzly Bear that was housed at the San Francisco Zoo, and the very cool reverse features an amazing depiction of the Bridge over the San Francisco Bay--the fine lines and detail in the image is amazing. Only 71,424 coins were minted, making them very scarce. And another attraction of this coin is it is housed in PCGS's original "rattler" slab, which itself adds to the collectability and value of the coin. The coin is 90% silver. As you can see from the pics the coin is in awesome uncirculated shape. All lettering, date, and images are all clear and detailed. The coin has a golden-toned patina but much of the original mint luster and shine is still present. There is no major toning or damage.
This is an amazing coin that no half dollar or commemorative coin collection should be without. Thanks!
